SELES-TIAL PLAYER
Age 16: Youngest-ever French Open champion.
Age 17: Youngest woman to reach #1 on the WTA rankings.
Age 19: Wins eighth Grand Slam singles title. Most ever won by a teenager.
Three months later: One demented bastard changes everything [link].
Monica - I don't have your poster up on my wall anymore, but you will always be my favourite women's tennis player! The mental strength and resilience you displayed in coming back to the game to win one more Grand Slam after that traumatic incident is... unbelievable!
Monica Seles announced her official retirement from professional tennis on February 14, 2008.

while i wasnt a big fan of tennis when i was younger (than i am now[:P]), i did respect her for her guts and determination... its sad how things went wrong...
God, u have a mind blowing smile.. you know that?
I have been on a trip and now as I am back.. the first thing I did was click on yu ;)
HAHAHA..
verrrr nice and colourful blog yu have!!
---------------------------------
About the post.. she was the person who introduced tennis to me.. yay! I started seeing tennis just to see her.. and I lost interest when that mf ruined her! damn! what a loss!
but then, she bounced back to teach us... that if you have the will, you can find the way!

Darn, I love Orange juice and orange color ;)
I was really young when my dad used to follow tennis religiously...
Even as small as I was then I used to love the grunting - yet nail biting match between seles and graf..!
I don't have any favourites though! :)
I didnt like Monica when I was a kid...but I really hated what happened to her...its sad.
Abt u:
You know what this pic of urs is damn sweet...:)
m not that big a fan of tennis....
but saw this post and then saw that gal...and THEN.. ho hum... saw that link ;) made me realise that it is indeed sad that this gotta happen to talented stars...
aah well... wen u gotta gah, u gotta gah!! aye?
Steffi was my favourite! but what happend to Seles was unfortunate indeed! she wud have reached greater heights else :(
Jeez....what a moron! Its surely a loss to the game.
Hey she was one of my favourites too... To move on after such a horrible incident and to make a brilliant comeback....well kudos to her...
Oh and ya thanks for dropping by...ur ever welcome on my blog.. yes the comments too(wink, wink)
:D
She is my favorite.
yep she's one of my favs too!
Keshi.
Spoken like a true Seles fan!:) I was torn between my love of Monica and my equally undying love of Steffi:)Lol!
I remember the fateful day too... the papers were full of the news... I remember how excited I was when she decided to bounce right back... Sigh!
I should know more about her…. Now we are in Sania mania, looking forward for her shining star across globe ;))
buddy you have been tagged!
What a pity, right?
Actually, I was more a Steffi fan but I do understand your sentiments. Tennis is a great game.
she is a star indeed...hats off to her courage...
:((((((((((((((((((((
That was a fitting tribute to a glorious career. She rocks,no matter what!
Used to really admire her too.You wrote this well.
she did have that fighting spirit...
well written, vinesh...
It's real sad what happened to her. So many years of her career (which I am sure was her life) snatched away from her
Somehow just caught up in all the greats.....that I admired a lil bit of everyone. But of course Chris used to be a great fav, and then to steffi....Still Seles had a great game in her and she has the determination too.....it shows now.
Hats off to that lady....
She is my favourite tennis player too...I hardly missed her games & like her attitude very much....yes that incident was really really unfortunate & traumatic....hats off to her!
Seles was, is and will always be my fav woman tennis star!!!
I'll miss her on court!!
Nice colorful blog you have here!!
Yeah.. I remember long ago me and my dad, watching her matches, and her famous double-grunt that starts up in the middle of the second set. I realize now, its been ages since I watched a tennis tournament!!
