COUNTERFEITOPHOBIA
Each time someone looks suspiciously at a five hundred rupee note I pass across, my heart beats furiously! Especially if I'm depositing money in a bank. What if the note turns out to be counterfeit?
I used to think as a kid that I would be thrown into jail for the offence of distributing fake currency. I'm not sure if I know any better now, though! Even if I'm not punished, wouldn't I still lose the money?
Earlier, what was just fear has now developed into a phobia. I try and transact mostly with electronic money, but receiving five hundred (or worse still, thousand) rupee notes scares the shit out of me. Even if I get it via ATM, I change it as soon as possible.
Wonder if they have a name for this phobia. Maybe they'll call it the Vinesh Syndrome :-)

Came across this a few weeks ago.
Enna nambi 100 rupee note a kuduka maatengaraanga!! Not even by mistake! LOL. Havent been well of lately, came here for some refreshing orange juice!
even if you are caught with counterfeit notes just make bambi eyes at the teller. it always works if you get the look right! :)
ha ha :)
if in doubt, give it to me :)
hmmm so is tht pic of a real or a counterfeit? ;) next time just have a counterfeit and you will know for sure what it is, no need to worry whether it is counterfeit! :p
nowaday we are getting fake currencies even from ATMs.. what to do...
I also am afraid of this! :D Not a phobia yet, but when given in the banks.
Same here, only that it hasn't reached the stage of phobia or paranoia. But when the person at the counter checks the Rs 500 currency, I do wonder what if he says it is fake.
so, I'm not the only one who thinks this way ... what a relief! :)
Scary, to have a big bundle of 500 Rs. note..I've felt it..and even the look on the bank cashier's face.! Higher the denomination the more scarier it becomes.!!
Same here in the US...They look at it like scanning it.!! ( In banks..my experiences).
Good for you to transact via Electronic money ....that is the way to go..!! I don't carry a single penny with me.!! Always use a credit card.!
Haa.. haa..
neengalum enna mdhiriye thaanaa :D
you can buy a marker counterfeit pen..dunno if it's available in india
With so much of cash circulation in the economy, I am still wondering as to why people are scared about 500Rs. note... May be, that (heavy cash circulation) itself is the reason, since the front end technology is missing at the point of exchange of these currencies.
COUNTERFEITOPHOBIA
seems more appropriate :)) But yeah i am very skeptical when it come to dealing with high amt currency transaction but am pretty confident abt the ones that pop out of the ATM.... atleast till now
Gives a weird feeling if someone takes a second look at the currency you give them.
The other day I got this 25cents coin which was part of the balance i got frm a fast food joint only to realize when i reached home that it was a piece of metal in the same shape/weight of a 25cents coin. I could only blame myself for not checking the balance rightaway, coz its too late to go back and convince them they gave it.
COUNTERFEITOPHOBIA/Vinesh Syndrome..glad u named it.
Vinesh Syndrome ... nahh make it a bit more general please!
I wonder why only this 500 rupee note comes under the VInesh syndrome.. How about a 10 rupee not or a 20 rupee note..
Regards,
Srijith
I have the Vinesh syndrome too ...i mean with all the counterfeiting going on,who knows if people like us end up with fake not and worse become suspects for possessing the same:O
