These days, Reader's Digest is being packaged with little freebies in order to sell. The June edition came with a strip of Digene chewable tablets! Reader's Digest with Digene tablets - haha! Reminded me of the Koundamani-Sendhil comedy scene where Sendhil places a cool drink (known simply as "colour" in villages) on top of a television set and tells Koundamani "Anne, idhaanne Colour TV!" (brother - this is what's known as a Colour TV!)
Opened a packet of my favourite Britannia Nutrichoice Digestive biscuits and was shocked to find only one quarter of the first biscuit! Has inflation moved on from eating into my paycheck to literally "eating" into my biscuit packet!?

ha ha.. reminds me of the kumuthams and kungumams during 90s deepavalis!
Anyway, I think RD has begun to drop in quality of late
Chewable tablets with Reader's digest? Sounds strange...shud have run out of ideas for promotion or the market researchers found that this is the best promotion..!!!
This clears more people are in lack to digest.
yeah....chewable tablet with rd??? Weird....and I'm glad u let me knw coz I was gonna buy one....but maybe I cld jst buy an RD now LOL!
Yeah! even i was surprised to see one n you indeed have a weird sense of humour jus like Senthil.. LOL!!!
@rukmani ram: kungumam always had a free shikakai shampoo or toothpowder free with an issue, that's how they became best kanna best :-)
@sri: yea, jus replied to rukmani's comment... that's how kungumam became best kanna best in circulation - RD has been acquired by the Maran family maybe :-)
@jeevan: yea, maybe people were trying to eat the paper (pages of Reader's Digest) so they're giving out Digene!
@meghna: oh come on - are u that person i've always wondered who buys a product without the offer? (This product is also available without free gift)? :-)
@my musings: chi ponganne... ungalukku eppavume ore tamaaas-u! :-D
It's not inflation; it's the rodents you invite by bringing food to your workstation!
Reader's Digest is badly falling in quality. The advertisement features covers a great space than before as it is. Plus, this month's freebie was some sort of a medicine they gave in packets which resembled cigarette packets leading to collective aneurysms at my place :(
@serendipity: :-) have you started working for the Facilities team, you rodent!? :-)
@ad libber: Oh that's right, it resembled a cigarette pack - Gold Flake? :D
it should be called Bloggers Digest now lol!
Keshi.
Be glad that in color TV style, they didnt draw a picture of a biscuit and say here is your biscuit ...
haha :).. koundamani n senthil... dont get to see a lot of them these days.. I'm from kerala but am a close follower of tamil films.. a scence from "karahaattaakaaran" where koundamani asks senthil to buy bananas is one of my favs.. sorry it doesn't have muct to do with ur post :).. visit my blog sometime :)
@keshi: haha - im sure blogger's digest will be quite interesting :-)
@chitra: lol, yea - thank god for small mercies!
@arun pk: thanks for stopping by, arun!

what.. you guys get free crap with reader's digest? i think it's really sad that something free has to be offered with books or magazines.. i mean if i were a book, i'd be seriously offended.
yikes!
just check around
a monkey may be lurking around you

lol. nice post.
rofl. . really digene of all things?? Great post :)
I feel RD could've adopted a different marketing strategy for their promotions -- 'Hajmola' digestive tablets would've been a better choice for our desi public :-D
Hey Vinesh,
how's you? hope all is well.
I picked ur blog as one best blog and deserves a blog award.. not sure if you believe in things like that or not.. but here
