SELES-TIAL PLAYER

Age 16: Youngest-ever French Open champion.
Age 17: Youngest woman to reach #1 on the WTA rankings.
Age 19: Wins eighth Grand Slam singles title. Most ever won by a teenager.
Three months later: One demented bastard changes everything [link].

Monica - I don't have your poster up on my wall anymore, but you will always be my favourite women's tennis player! The mental strength and resilience you displayed in coming back to the game to win one more Grand Slam after that traumatic incident is... unbelievable!

Monica Seles announced her official retirement from professional tennis on February 14, 2008.

I was really young when my dad used to follow tennis religiously...

Even as small as I was then I used to love the grunting - yet nail biting match between seles and graf..!

I don't have any favourites though! :)

Spoken like a true Seles fan!:) I was torn between my love of Monica and my equally undying love of Steffi:)Lol!

I remember the fateful day too... the papers were full of the news... I remember how excited I was when she decided to bounce right back... Sigh!

It's real sad what happened to her. So many years of her career (which I am sure was her life) snatched away from her

Somehow just caught up in all the greats.....that I admired a lil bit of everyone. But of course Chris used to be a great fav, and then to steffi....Still Seles had a great game in her and she has the determination too.....it shows now.
