BEETHOVEN BLOGGING

Use: http://www.pkblogs.com/vineshks if you cannot access my blog.

E-mails are pouring in - where's your blog gone, why have you taken your blog offline, they ask. What shall I tell them - my poor readers in India?

That their government chops off hands to clean fingernail dirt?
That freedom of speech makes politicians laugh loud?
That blokes who think the internet is available in kilos form their IT ministry?

Someone told them that terrorists use blogs to spread terror. So they banned blogs!

Click here to read news stories on the Indian government's gross violation of the freedom of speech

Tomorrow...
Phones will be banned because terrorists use phones!
Computers will be banned because terrorists use computers!!
Road travel will be banned because terrorists travel freely on roads!!!

The bizarre thing is, being in India, I can blog now but cannot view my own blog without a proxy.
I feel like Beethoven, who could compose music, but was stone deaf!

hey....i can understand your feelings...but it doesnt sound totally unreasonable when u really think abt it....from what i heard in the news and stuff, the ban has nothing to do with terrorists etc....looks like some ppl feel that blogs are a good way to decry certain religions that may lead to more unrest....though am not sure if such things will lead to communal riots etc, i have to accept that i have come across a few blogs in the wake of the Mumbai blasts that dont sound all that good.....

i see all ppl ranting about the ban... but i'm yet to see anyone holding a proper suggestion to the authoraties.. (eventhough there are very less chances for it to reach them.....)

next in the block list cud be:
search engines
online encyclopedias
voice messengers
and what not...

i guess the suggestion has indeed been sent across to the govt, by the Bloggers Collective Forum. and even petitions files. as we wait for soemthing posotive to happen (which I heard is gonna happen pretty soon), lets continue the ranting. i believe each rant counts.

@Kishore: We are speculating because the government hasn't come out with the official statement. But whatever be the reason - is the answer banning all blogs?

@Yaathreegan: Buddy, RTI and PILs have been filed, I have read...

Well.. tough times! Just gotto put up with it. When the tussel is between an ideal citizen and an ideal individual, it is always very hard to make a proper decision. It is the choice between 2 rights! Nyyyhowwwie.. thanks for stopping by my ranting! Will keep visiting yours to find out whatz bothering you these days! ;)

@alagar: i must thank the government for planting this idea in my head..

@velu: more importantly, we have found ways to continue to blog and keep in touch :-)

@random access: haha, the main idea behind the "open flap this way" instruction was to reach out to those who subscribe to this blog. These subscribers receive the first few lines of my blog (teaser) in their e-mail, so this would inform them of ways to access my blog in these days on Bloggency! :-)

@praveen: even if the government has reasons, it must come out in the open in the form of a statement. shouldn't keep us guessing, right?

RTI 's wouldn't anyway going to suggest them an alternative or point out what are they missing and what has to be done..

PIL - well... thatz a better soln..

there should be any techie team at the CERN rite ?! why wouldnt they move such things up to the mgmnt.. but the bitter truth that many of the politicians at the mgmt are sticking there with an empty skull..

hmm... dint know that.. too lazy to subscribe to blogs myself. nothing feels as good as a mouse click :) But its a good idea then..
