ELEVEN BRAZILIAN TEAMS

The famous cradle celebration - Romario & Bebeto
Being the quintessential Brazil fan, I religiously stay up to watch all their matches in this World Cup. My love affair with the way these guys play football started back in 1994 when Romario and Bebeto did that famous "baby cradle celebration"! The only reason I haven't put my money on Brazil to win this time is..
.. I have no money - hehe!

This World Cup, however, I'm feeling really sorry for Brazil and their star players - reason being EVERYBODY expects them to win. Even someone who doesn't know that a team has eleven players and who shouts "Sixer" when a goal is scored says Brazil will win the World Cup! So much pressure and attention on this one team - each player a team by himself!

As for Ronaldo (always King!), Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos and the rest - they are expected to fire goals everytime they gain possession of the ball. Marking the opponent team's star players is a common tactic, but in this World Cup, Brazil's opponents follow the whole-team-including-goalkeeper-run-towards-brazilian-with-ball attitude! *sic* So much that a Brazilian on the field appears like a rasagolla surrounded by a bunch of dirty flies all the time.

Last night was enchanting - to see Ronaldo equalling Gerd Muller's record of highest number of World Cup goals, ah! Can't wait to see Brazil win this year too!

P.S: The team I hate - Australia. Just like they sledge and heckle in cricket, here they play like a team of high school big bullies. Hope Italy thrash them to pulp in the pre-quarters.

I am a big fan of underdogs..This year its Ghana.!!! Let's see how far they go.

Brazil - Not sure if the Indian Media is talking about Ronaldo's weight problem..Here they talk about it a lot.! Looks like even the Brazilian President commented about it. I personally feel that he has lost his speed too.

Dont really think Brazil is the all out favourite anymore...watched the Argentina game yesterday, man they are GOOD....And hey, you shud've heard all the bombastic things the media here said about the US team...like they were one of the favs to win....And as for Ronaldo, there has been a lot of talk about his weight and speed issues....but i personally dont think brazil are as good as they are just because of Ronaldo...they probably have the most naturally gifted players of any team...

Hmm...after watching today's match between Ghana & Brazil, I sometimes wonder why I madly support The Brazilians. For a team making its first WC appearance, Ghana sure did rock, they had some wonderful passes and shots which they just failed to convert :( I guess that's where the 'experience' of the Brazil team came to play. To me, if it wasn't for Dida, it would have been tough for Brazil. His saves truly saved the day!

But that's me with my peanut-sized knowledge about Soccer :)
