COUNTERFEITOPHOBIA

Each time someone looks suspiciously at a five hundred rupee note I pass across, my heart beats furiously! Especially if I'm depositing money in a bank. What if the note turns out to be counterfeit?

I used to think as a kid that I would be thrown into jail for the offence of distributing fake currency. I'm not sure if I know any better now, though! Even if I'm not punished, wouldn't I still lose the money?

Earlier, what was just fear has now developed into a phobia. I try and transact mostly with electronic money, but receiving five hundred (or worse still, thousand) rupee notes scares the shit out of me. Even if I get it via ATM, I change it as soon as possible.

Wonder if they have a name for this phobia. Maybe they'll call it the Vinesh Syndrome :-)

Same here, only that it hasn't reached the stage of phobia or paranoia. But when the person at the counter checks the Rs 500 currency, I do wonder what if he says it is fake.

Scary, to have a big bundle of 500 Rs. note..I've felt it..and even the look on the bank cashier's face.! Higher the denomination the more scarier it becomes.!!

Same here in the US...They look at it like scanning it.!! ( In banks..my experiences).

Good for you to transact via Electronic money ....that is the way to go..!! I don't carry a single penny with me.!! Always use a credit card.!

With so much of cash circulation in the economy, I am still wondering as to why people are scared about 500Rs. note... May be, that (heavy cash circulation) itself is the reason, since the front end technology is missing at the point of exchange of these currencies.

COUNTERFEITOPHOBIA

seems more appropriate :)) But yeah i am very skeptical when it come to dealing with high amt currency transaction but am pretty confident abt the ones that pop out of the ATM.... atleast till now

Gives a weird feeling if someone takes a second look at the currency you give them.

The other day I got this 25cents coin which was part of the balance i got frm a fast food joint only to realize when i reached home that it was a piece of metal in the same shape/weight of a 25cents coin. I could only blame myself for not checking the balance rightaway, coz its too late to go back and convince them they gave it.
COUNTERFEITOPHOBIA/Vinesh Syndrome..glad u named it.

I wonder why only this 500 rupee note comes under the VInesh syndrome.. How about a 10 rupee not or a 20 rupee note..
