BUYING NEW MOBILE

Am about to make a major commitment for the rest of my life, which is buying a mobile phone. Confused between the choices in the market. Have been told that Samsung/Motorola/Philips phones have a lot of known issues.

So my choice is between Nokia and Sony Ericsson??

Current Model: Nokia 3315
Features:
1. Will not break if dropped from heights of upto 6 feet (tried 55 times so far)
2. Can operate with eyes closed.
3. No one will steal it.

Features desired in new phone:
1. No camera phone (strict no-no)
2. Phone book memory of 250+
3. Message storage of 30+
4. Neat organizer/calendar/to do list (ability to set many reminders)
5. Speaker
6. FM Radio (not a must, but preferable)
6. Cost within Rs. 5000

Have already checked out features from several websites, but I need your suggestions, dear readers! :-)

Vinesh.. cell fone features r changing so fast that you might find it tough to be committed to your first cell fone for the rest of ur life.. and any damn good cell fone looses its quality after one year.. interms of voice clarity etc.. so I would suggest you to get a trendy/stylish model.. as ur goin to be asking this question to ur self next year.

nokia- when dropped from the second floor- merely scatters its various parts and when put together works just as it did before.. except for the slight rattle...
when dropped down the loo- dried in the sun... works better than before..

commitment for the rest of your life??? have u underestimated the speed to scientific development!..At the most, you could do with your new phone for 5 years, definitely not more than that!...As for your choices, you could include Motorola too. Their latest range of phones are excellent!

agree with vikram. motorola's slims are too good to handle.

Thanks for your suggestions, folks.

Nokia 6030 is the frontrunner for now.

Could you pls tell me more about the good Motorola phones with the features I mentioned, Reva and Vikram?

6030 has a bug. Following is the comment from my friend who uses it "on selecting tamil as phone language u can't get the redialled nos dialled again. If u do so mobile switches off. This is not the case for English and Hindi"

Happy rebooting :)

People who like quality products go for SE, but SE is a bit costly. Quality always comes with extra cost. You can wait for the launch of J220i and J230i(it has FM also). Both have Task Manager feature(like Reminders). Initial cost is expected to be within 6K(5+1K for quality) I strongly recommend SE, after bad experience with Nokia for past 2 yrs.

machi.. Nokia is known for a comfortable gui and solid battery power... but when it comes to cost vs features... Sony Ericsson stands first...

for around the same cost range, SE has best Display Quality, Sound Quality and you have lotsa easter eggs around ;-) the s/w.... in some models the battery doesnt stays longer...

Motorolla, konjam costly but sexy designs...

my vote is for SE !!!

Nothing beats nokia fones in usability and Im sure im not the only person who says so.. and whatever i know of u, u dont seem to go for style over substance, so whts the confusion!

Nokia is by far the best. Is user friendly and goes without charging for almost 3 days in a row.

Hmm..
Jus found out yesterday that the highest bidder for my Nokia 3315 of two years, is offering Rs. 700 to buy my phone...

Still thinking about Nokia vs Sony Ericsson..

Thanks for your suggestions folks!

I have been using Motorola fones for about two years now...I had the V600 first and now the razr 3...I will not recommend you to buy a motorola...go in for a nokia if you can...nokia fones really are the best when it comes to signal quality and durability....cant really suggest any model, any nokia product that you think is affordable is definitel good...
