FUNNY PANNI

I was reading the newspaper yesterday, with one ear tuned to the television, and I kept hearing some Thamizh dialogue like "Enga amma appa sethupoittaanga, naa anaadha" (My parents are no more. I am an orphan). Sounded like excerpts from a Thamizh movie, and then came on the song, "Naanoru Sindhu Kaavadi Sindhu". I have watched Sindhu Bhairavi many times, but just so I could catch it again, I raised my head to see when it was being telecast again. And there's this visual of a pig walking away into the sunset! Was zooked about what was happening!

Babe: Pig in the CityToday, I saw the same promo again, which starts off like "Indha Sunday unga veeettukku naan varreeeeeeeen" and realised it was not for a Thamizh movie, but for the dubbed movie, BABE: Pig in the City! I couldn't control my laughter! Imagine a pig speaking in Thamizh, and finally singing the "Naanoru Sindhu" song. It was a riot, no less!! :-)

Vijay TV is reaching new heights in hilarity! They have been proving themselves right from the Jackie Chan dubbed movies ("Daai, ennada pannre? Mmm?? Naa voodu kattren!") to playing romantic songs like "Thottaal Poo Malarum" for two dinosaurs mating (promo for Jurassic Park). I think they also played some Rajnikanth songs as backdrop to some Jackie Chan movie.

On the other hand, I changed my pre-conceived notion about the dubbed Kaun Banega Crorepati 2, again on Vijay TV. Nizhalgal Ravi, who has dubbed for Amitabh, has done a pretty neat job (he only sucks real bad when he speaks English) with the pitching and intonation to suit the original.

Vinesh,

Gives me one good reason to subscribe to VIJAY TV which comes in Direct TV here.!

My crib is the stupid TV serials where people cry..cry...cry...all days..every day.!

Programs like this ( dubbed audio) will definitely make people laugh even if the movie is boring.!

LOL :) Pig in the City.!! Nanoru sindhu.!

In your opinion, what are some of the funny programs on TV there? I know only of Giri-Giri-Station in Jaya. Anything else?

Do we have something like the old Nayyandi dharbar.?

I am reading a lot about Nizhalgal Ravi, etc. I'll have to check it out.!

@Narayanan Venkitu: YOu're right. These movies are funny compared to those cryathon megaserials!

My favourite program on Vijay TV is Lollu Sabha (Wednesday 21:00 IST) Other funny programs: Super Ten on Sun TV (mondays i think) and Comedy Bazaar (Jaya TV sunday ohhi)hmmm...

yes anna, the ad was very very cute and touching.. i somehow think the emotions, luv and other expressions potrayed in animal movies are more realistic than our usual films.

KBC2 is really good on Vijay TV. I gave up watching TV, for nearly a year, and now i've come back to it because of this programme.

Of course, Nizhalgal ravi has done a fairly decent job, not screwing up the dubbing. But the voices given for the participants, have to be forced to speak for even the "errr" ,"mmmmm" and "coughs" thats irritating.

bout movies, long back i watched "Shangai noon" on Vijay.

Jacky :Hi Folks ! (this is in the original, thats a very simple dialogue)

In the tamil version,
Jacky : yennaangadaa machchaaanungalaa !

theres only 2 classifications. one voice for rough heroes and other for soft heroes.

blogrolling you Vinesh KS.

LOL. Missing Vijay TV;-(((

Vinesh said...

@Keerthi: You're right. Nizhalgal Ravi is good except when he speaks in English. Can't stand his pronounciation of the sound "aa". (The "tan" in Pakis"tan" is spoken as the standalone word "tan")

LOL@Yennaada Machaangala :-D
Thanks for the blogroll buddy! :-)

@Fathima: Why so? Out of India?

Unknown said...

Haven't seen any of these dubbed ones. Can't wait, sounds hilarious

I am in a working women's hostel. I don't stand a chance of watching a single channel continuously for more than 10 minutes. Moreover, as there r a lot of Telugu girls, I am hardly able to c my fav. Zee music too.

Woodooz said...

Yeah I was watching KBC2 for the first time yesterday... Ravi has done pretty good work on dubbing... If only he could focus on his English.

I think that's something most Tamil actors cannot do... except for few like Vikram, Ajit, Surya...

Vinesh said...

@Grey Vampire: Even I lose my patience most of the time, buddy. But when it's funny, it gets REALLY funny :-D

@Wicked Angel: You should check it out sometime. Yesterday's movie Babe was total fun watching it in Thamizh..

Vinesh said...

@Fathima: Oh I see! :-( But don't worry, you are not missing much. There are very few such gems on TV..

@Somu: You left out Rajnikanth and Captain from the list! :-D

Vinesh said...

@Ayshu: Yea, this weekend should be another laugh riot..:-D

*laughing at your additions to the list* :-D
