OF MONEYPLANTS AND PIGGYBANKS

When I was little, Dad told me, "Money doesn't grow on trees". Secretly, though, I thought he was lying, because Ma had a moneyplant in her garden. I would dig the mud a little to see if any money would stick out. But being the sensible kid that I was, this habit died a natural death. Ma throwing a fit one day after I had pulled the plant out completely, root and all, was also a turning point.

Always encouraged to save a rupee if I was given two, I remember how I played with my piggybank, shaking it often to see how much money I had collected. The funny part was when I actually opened it after it was full (it burped), I didn't know what to do with the money! And my loot totalled a magnificent seventy two rupees and thirty paise.

Age has mellowed me down, and I have matured like wine over the years. I no longer poke at moneyplants or shake stupid piggybanks. I depend on reliable ways to earn money. Like lottery tickets and Google Adsense. I wonder why people work.

I believe I will be rich someday. I also believe that the peacock feather that I have carefully preserved between the pages of my tenth standard record notebook will lay a "little feather" beside it someday.

Damn it.. Out of orange juice again..

Thanks for your replies friends..

@Vasanthi: Thanks Vasanthi, I surely need lots of info on savings, shares etc.. was thinking of whom to ask :-) Websites hardly give you the right info :-)

@Pallavi: Where did you build that house, Lilliput? LOL

@Kary: Dont take the lottery thing seriously buddy, that was my feeble attempt at sarcasm, LOL. But do you really know ways to improve your adsense earning? I guess it doesn't work that much for personal blogs..

Yaa frankly speaking it doesnt go up great. Adsense for feeds will show a good improvement but you will have to register for that. Its still in the beta phase. I am only trying it thru friends and my suggestion is, you can change your AD layout. You can go in for (5 rows)Skyscraper or wideskyscraper. just a suggestion Vinesh

And you have actually won a few times? Lottery tickets, I mean.

When we were children I convinced my cousins that they would die if they swallowed orange pips as an orange shrub/plant would grow bursting through them.

Gruesome!

@Kary: Will surely work on those ads buddy, thanks..:-)

@Pallavi: It was a conscious attempt to keep my blog simple, but a couple of things on your blog were just fantastic I wanna know how you did it. Will mail you about it! :-)

@Manjusha: Haha! I wish I win the lottery just once. I don't want more LOL.

My grandmom would also tell me the same thing about orange/grape seeds because I always swallowed them (too icky to spit them out, hehe).
